Chapter 13: Residential Schools and Desecration of Churches Or Wag the Chief
Canada's Covid Tyrants: Book 2 - Occupation

Residential Schools and Desecration of Churches
This chapter provides context to the events of Covid 2021 year. While it is not directly covid-19 it is important to contrast the behaviour of both federal and provincial governments on a different topic. This chapter, (except for Background information) was also written prior to the release of Grave Error by Champion and Flanagan.23 30 While America (and Canada to a large extend) had a “racial reckoning” during the “summer of love” BLM riots. The development of Canadian’s original sin mythos took another year to mainstream. Boiling just below the surface since the ending of Indian Residential schools (IRS). It burst upon the 2021 spring/ summer to a captive and ignorant audience.
Background
Contrary to modern understanding Canada, especially the rural areas, was very poor in the 1800s and into the middle of the 1940s. The first attempts by the French to establish New France were fraught with death due to the harsh climate of Canada. Canada was not inviting to settlers. From harsh winters, to the threat of Indian attacks, or jockeying for land by colonial powers. Further, the Canadian Shield (scant topsoil on rocky land) in modern Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Northwest territories and Nunavut offered little in the way of arable land for farming.
Canada’s history is similar but also vastly different from America’s expansion westward or their manifest destiny. Canadians, favoured signing treaties that often included educational and monetary clauses. Eventually, these treaties resulted in the formation of the Indian Residential Schools (IRS) AND Indian Day schools (IDS). The westward expansion was accomplished by traders seeking beaver pelts, and missionaries seeking to proselytize.
The establishment of schools began in 1800s. The federal government’s formal involvement began in 1867 from the British North American Act 1867. These schools were established by religious orders (Catholic, Presbyterian, Anglican, and United Church). Despite modern rhetoric, and laws of mandatory attendance introduced in 1908, attendance was not rigorously enforced as it is estimated around 30-40% of Indians attended school and for an average of only 3 or so years per individual.30 Mandatory school attendance is a policy in most Western countries now. The UK fines parents for student absenteeism.
In Canada, principally the rural areas of Canada, diseases and poverty were a major factor. Tuberculosis particularly had a terrible morality rate throughout IRS AND the reserves. Dr. Peter Bryce conducted a study of the school and reported a serious need for sanitation improvements and screening. His study was taken seriously and improvements were made to the schools including in ventilation and screening. At this point, antibiotic treatments had not been developed to treat the disease (consumption).
The situation on reserves was similar if not worse than IRS for TB and other illnesses. Sadly, many students and Indians living on reserves were underfed and malnourished due to poverty. In the 1940s, the government of Canada conducted studies to try to boost the nutrition of IRS children. Journalist Bob Weber labelled it “withholding” due to giving vitamin supplements to 125 of a group of 300.25 Vitamin supplements and nutritional science was a new development. It was estimated that ‘locals’ (on reserves) were living on less than 1,500 calories a day as oppose to recommended 2,000 calories. New guidelines were developed and the height of the IRS students rose.30
Importantly, the population of Indigenous persons has grown by over a million from the start of the residential schools to current day. If this was a genocide (or the even more vague accusation of "cultural genocide") why have the Indigenous population grown so quickly? If it was ‘cultural genocide’ why did IRS religious leaders develop dictionaries of Indigenous languages? IR schools also accepted more disadvantaged children from abuse or neglect in coordination with Indigenous chiefs. Other Indigenous students that wished to go to school attended Day Schools much like the modern school.
The end of the IRS program in 1980s saw a closure of most IRS sites or transfer of schools to indigenous bands for self governing. The last of the IRS was closed in 1998. Prior to the closure of IRS, there was widespread praise from former students that formed an educated class that became leaders in their communities. As the program closed down, a few voices appeared to condemn the program.
Kevin Annett a former United Church Minister created several documentaries on the topic of “Canada’s Genocide”. Alcoholic and homeless former students of IR schools were interviewed about Indian kids ‘going missing’ and make suggestive commentary about Priest or Nuns abusing or sexually abusing children.26 These claims expanded (like the satanic panic) with Kevin claiming that the Queen (Queen Elizabeth)27 came to Canada and stole/kidnapped IR students/kids. Or that there were mass graves in Ontario. Even when the site was exhumed with no bodies recovered this just furthered Annett’s zeal. Annett attempted to pass off animal remains as a murdered child from an IRS at Occupy protests (offshoots of Occupy Wall St.).28 This became the bridge too far and many in the community of IRS critics and they moved to distance themselves from him.
Mass Graves Hoax
News about a “mass grave” spread widely by ‘news organizations’ in Canada in Kamloops B.C. The fake news shot around the world. Sensationalized before the truth had a chance to put its pants on. Press release of “215 bodies discovered” or “mass graves in Canada” rang out as a clear invocation of genocide. By the time the Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc Chief Rosanne Casimir rebuked those spreading mis-information stating that it was never called a “mass grave” the cat was out of the bag. The BBC, NY Times and Washington Post repeatedly claimed and spread the lie.1

Historian C. P. Champion noted the irony, that during a pandemic people did not understand circumstances when normal burial customs were restricted or prevented.2 Rather it became a hammer to strike back against the growing Christians frustrated with draconian lockdowns. Lies do have consequences and two churches serving First Nation people in B.C. (Canada) were destroyed in “suspicious” fires that had “liquid accelerant” used.3 Both these churches were Roman Catholic and the Kamloops residential school was run by Oblates of Mary Immaculate from the Catholic Church from 1890 to 1969.3 These two churches were burned within a weak of the “mass grave” discovery. Both these churches were latter be classified as arsons. Good thing the media never reported it.
Within the next three weeks around 10 churches were burned, more than 20 were vandalized.4 During this time several liberals like Gerald Butts, 5 Trudeau and others silently ignored the church burnings after jumping on every “hate incident” minutes after they had happened.6 This silence finally broke on July 4th when Trudeau issued a weak response that, “this is not the way forward.” Much of the progressive wing, including the propagandist, celebrated these attacks (if not vocally, they did so subtly) as “understandable.” Trudeau’s full comment from July 2, 2021, “One of my reflections is understand the anger that is out there. The anger against the federal government, against institutions like the Catholic Church. It is real and it is fully understandable, given the shameful history that we are becoming more and more aware of.”31
A large disconnect formed between native communities whose churches were being burned down and the white saviour ‘allies’. Instead of a condemnation and a promise of justice Trudeau stated, “this has to stop.” Never in any of his statements was Trudeau able to muster the courage to confront anti-Christian bigotry of his base. It was always that this has to end, or this is not the way forward. What is ‘this’ Mr. Trudeau? Cowardice, perhaps? “The Church burnings must stop” was a sentence Trudeau could not speak. While many first nations persons in communities affected by these fires pleaded for an end to violence and hatred causing division, progressives had labeled them as oppressed victims of the “white” Catholic Church. Therefore, their opinions did not matter.
Rebel News interviewed locals including Torch who agonized, “I loved that church, I loved it. I don’t like seeing it [as] a pile of crap. Man everybody got married and buried in that church. Everybody.”7 It is a complex situation, to say the least, and simple solutions of retribution, of burning Churches down will do nothing but diminish Canadians. Especially when ‘leaders’ fan the flames of violence to legitimize mob justice, Christians are called to love their brothers and sisters in faith regardless of immutable characteristics.8 9 The myopic obsession with race that allows many white saviours progressives to sacrifices first nation’s communities for their own political ends. Some first nations may agree with the burning of these churches, but Canada cannot function by letting thugs in brown, white, black or orange shirts rule the streets and tear down statues or buildings as that is devolution into might makes right and a rejection of morals. It grants one group a permission slip to violence that cannot be tolerated.
Jenn Allan-Riley, an assistant Pentecostal minister, spoke as “a 60s Scoop survivor and the daughter of a residential school survivor” and “ask[ed] people to stop burning down churches.”10 11 Among other statements making it clear that it was a complex situation but “violence begets violence”, especially since these churches were depriving first nations communities of their worship centre. Trudeau instead tried to redirect from his decisive comments and permissiveness towards violence with a wink and a nod towards far left or left leaning groups by hiring an Indigenous women as the new Governor General. Mary Simon, hired solely because she was Indigenous, was appointed to replace Julie Payette (the toxic former Governor General).12
Wildfires spread throughout the west of Canada in the summer. Later many of these forest fires resulted in Arson charges. 20 churches that were burned with arson and 28 churches that were vandalized by July 15th, 2021, passed by nearly unnoticed.13 Many in media and in progressive circles doubled down on the “mass grave” propaganda. Parroting Jagmeet and Justin Trudeau rhetorical wink and nod to far left antifa and racist activists.14 The ground swell by far-left activists received the attention of international bodies. A call was made by the UN to investigate into “mass graves” claims and for rushed apologized seemed to be all to convenient. The quickest way to spot a hoax is to see how they respond to delays. A hoax requires swift and immediate action before you find out the whole truth of the matter.
Two years later after much silence from official channels a damning indictment of the “mass graves” genocide narrative has trickled out. After mass policy changes such as Land Acknowledgement virtue signaling, in schools, sports events, and even some courts (parodied by CBC).16 Curriculum changes resulting in course that taught “the indigenous perspective” while often relying heavily on “ways of knowing” and “lived experiences”. After legal changes, and further pushes for DIE (Didn’t Earn its) programs the truth has come out. Odd that the answer to mass graves, covid and really any problem is more Diversity, equity, and inclusion! Weird that being Canadian is Diversity, equity, and inclusion, just like being British or American is Diversity, equity and inclusion!
Dr. Beaulieu’s Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey of the Apple Orchard beside Kamloops found 215 ground disturbances. Yes, it was GPR not actual bodies. This was updated to 200 due to 15 of those disturbances being shovel displacements made by Dr. Beaulieu’s team. Also touted as evidence was an alleged juvenile tooth that turned out to be of non-human origin and a mysterious rib bone that has since gone missing and was never analyzed.16 17
The ground disturbances when investigated (exhumed) have yielded no remains and historical documents show a septic field dug in 1924 to dispose of the school’s sewage. Some still insist that there are bodies hidden somewhere. These crazy government conspiracy theorists believed that remains were dug up and moved. In a vacuum, these crazy conspiracy theories could be ignored. Trudeau and his Regime mainstreamed the crazy Kevin Arnott lies. This conspiracy was the official finding of Kimberly Murray from the Federal government. However, the changes in culture, policies, and law move this into the realm of “hate hoax” or in this case genocide hoax to generate policy changes.

The most common position from those that initially pushed this genocide hoax have retreated from their attacking position (bailey) into the motte. After using the genocide hoax to obtain policy changes, they will proceed to call anyone that questions these changes made on a lie as racist. They retreat to generalized and opaque “discrimination and oppression” rather than specific actions. Thus, the dialectic progresses and the Overton Window shifts. As these positions became even more ridiculous many MPs have speculated over criminalizing questioning of the “IRS genocide”.
However, even stranger, as reported in The Dorchester by Nina Green, Kimberly Murray was appointed by Order in Council (OIC) as special advisor to David Lametti (former AG) released her interim report on June 16th. 19 Murray claimed that “Denialists entered the [Kamloops] site without permission. Some came in the middle of the night, carrying shovels; they said they wanted to see for themselves’ if children are buried there.” The only issue being that RCMP attachment received no reports of such”.20 It appears these statements are being taken and treated as facts. The statements are hearsay but due to the far-left position of standpoint theory of “indigenous ways of knowing” it is racist to question this story or the lived experience of the tribe or tribe member (Who are unnamed).
Kimberly Murray attempted to alter the release of the story. The story originally reported to local James Peters of CFJC “Today in Kamloops was given a scoop by an unnamed source that was part of the team investigating Kamloops.”21 Murray’s report however suggests that the news was leaked and there was no communication plan in place and caught the Kamloops band off guard. Rachelle Kooy appears to be the firsthand source for Murray to claim that it was leaked but she also controlled press and refusing “probing questions”. Rachelle Kooy who is profiled by the Green Party appears to have prompted the media storm when clearly the academic thing to do would have been to quietly check. This also just happened to correspond in the wind up to an election. Trudeau used this narrative to divide Canada and despite his extreme unpopularity, he kept hold on a weak minority.
