Chapter 8: The Second Wave

In the twilight of Trump’s presidency, a shift occurred with the sudden release of miracle vaccines from Project Warp Speed. After a year of the propaganda media explaining that vaccines could not be developed in less than a year, the sudden announcement caused turmoil and chaos. Another switch was made. The narrative was switched from vaccines will not work to vaccine at all cost. Tyrant Ford attempted to cancelled Christmas and New Years because of high case numbers hysteria. Ford announced a three-part vaccination rollout targeting vulnerable persons and ‘essential’ workers.¹

On December 21, 2020, after advisement from the Ontario Hospital Association to start on Boxing Day (December 26^th)², the province now jumped out of the colour-tier system. Policy after policy; none of the NPIs (non-pharmaceutical interventions) stopped covid. Laughing at the petty pleas of the busybody tyrants. Nothing stopped covid cases increases. So, Premiers, like Ford, thrashing about, desperate to be scene doing something rather than nothing. Despite being essentially locked down with gathering caps of around 10 people for gyms and business since October a further lockdown was enacted. This time it will work. It had to work!

On December 29^th, after making and releasing a video urging Canadians to stay home for Christmas, Rod Philips (Finance Minister to Ford’s government) slyly went on a vacation to St. Barts with Ford’s knowledge.³ Philips resigned from his position as finance minister but remain as MPP for Ajax until the next election. Ford played word games to pretend that he did not know about the trip. He, however, was fully aware of the Minister’s trip prior to the trip. A week later Dr. Tom Stewart (CEO of St. Joseph’s Health System and part of COVID-19 advisory team) was caught travelling to the Caribbean for a vacation.⁴ Particularly slimy progressives seeped out of the woodwork to condemn people criticizing politicians suffering from Covid Vacation Syndrome. ‘These hardworking politicians/doctors were exhausted and deserved a break!’ If only the same consideration was afforded to normal people. ‘Progressivism is a hierarchy, and you ain’t in it’.

Some may confuse the documentation of this with scorn. While there maybe some scorn for the Covid Vacation Syndrome, these officials pushed for lockdowns for ‘thee but not for me’. To them they were willing to make a risk assessment and travel as they felt their travel was worth the risk. They were either important enough or their desire was strong enough to skirt/break if not the rules the spirit of the rules. Regular old Canadians, however, were not able to make these same risk assessments because they are just the rubes. The unwashed masses. Although students were going back into school, the hysterics scared many students back to online ‘school’ or pushed education back online due to “Case counts being too high!”. At no point was a risk assessment done that showed healthy children are essentially unaffected.

On January 20^th, 2021, around 121 Canada Post employees in a Mississauga facility tested positive for covid since January 1^st.¹⁷The facility remained opened. Those sick with covid were asked to stay home. This reasonable policy was not adopted across Canada. Were there excess deaths from covid in the post office? No? Protesters demanded to know what was essential and what was non-essential? This policy caused massive economic harm and had no benefit. These arbitrary categories often tended to favour political preference and public sector jobs with little care for whom they affected. Somehow politicians continued to look clean (except for Trudeau) despite the constantly closed barber shops.

Covid fatigue set in hard. The grueling winter months in lockdown crawled by; while the media attempted to look for new scare tactics they stumbled upon toxic gem of ‘new variants’. Unscientific claims sprang up that, although they did not know about these variants, they HAD to be worse! ‘The new variants would affect kids more! The new variants would bypass the vaccine and acquired immunity!’ Journalists repeated half-baked scientific conspiracy theories to a lockdown audience like a scene out of A Clockwork Orange. Some on the far-left wing (CBC and “medical experts”) begin to question why persons of colour were not receiving the vaccine first because of “historical injustices”.⁵ Progressives create problems, then their children demonize people for the problems they created. How long will it be before “Canada”, as a whole, is blamed for forcing vaccine upon ethnic minority/”historically oppressed groups” as an experimental treatment.⁶

Mid-February the province began to open again as the cases went down. Despite how wrong the modelers were for the first wave politicians and scientists doubled down on failed models to determine public health policies. Let us follow the same modellers, that are totally fixed this time! Unsurprisingly, the modeling for the second wave was also hysterical. The low model being the closest if not a bit of a high estimate when compared to the actual number of hospitalizations during this second wave taken from Ontario public health data tool.⁷

During this wave, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests continued to dictate policies. The infrastructure, which was lacking during the first wave, had been redirected and focused to allow for more ‘rapid testing’. PCR can be inaccurate if the primers used to amplify the DNA are not specific or if the cycle threshold (number of reactions) is too high. PCR was not designed to act as an infection test. Many doctors (including Dr. Fauci) have stated that cycle thresholds should be kept to 35 at a maximum to prevent false positives. Ontario however operated at a 38-40 cycle threshold. Furthermore, as more skeptical minded persons began to question the never-ending lockdowns, information was not forthcoming to defend arbitrary and irrational decisions by Public Health and politicians. Instead, the position was, “we’ll discuss the problems later”.

Nor did it help when, on December 15, 2020, a hot mic caught chief medical officer of health David Williams and associate Dr. Barbara Yaffe discussing how “they never read their papers”, and just “repeat what they tell me to”.⁸Who is telling you to repeat what? Of course, this was compounded by the ease of “virtual conferences” to filter out tough questions from undesirable journalists and pick the propagandist lapdogs.

‘Call the Mayor, councillors and it is over their heads.’

‘Call public health and they ignore you or direct you back to the MPP.’

The cowardice and lack of responsibility has allowed these petty busybody tyrants to free reign to rule for two years. Pass-the-buck-bureaucracy where everyone is incompetent, and rights are made up anyway! Fighting your way through a managerial nightmare of incompetent bureaucratic midwits who do nothing so they can’t be held responsible for anything. Like the Castle or the Trial by Kafka.

The trend was clear for the second wave. Deaths were still occurring but a much slower rate. A combination of factors likely explains this but likely two reasons were primary causes. Better treatment of elderly that were just abandoned in nursing homes during the first wave. Or more knowledge of the disease and young people were getting covid at higher rates (not just old people).

Covid essentially tore through nursing homes during the first wave and then spread throughout the rest of the population. The mortality age edge lower due to larger number of people being infected and due to covid deaths being a combination of with and from covid as used by dishonest actors to now claim young people are more at risk during this new wave. A dubious claim.

I Will Open & Fines

Rebel News continued their Fight the Fines campaign and start the sister campaign, “I Will Open”. Legal help was provided for Canadians of all ages that were being slapped with large fines for protesting at legislative grounds in most provinces like Ontario and Alberta.¹ The notable exception of Federal grounds which to this point had been fairly reasonable and allowed protests. The consent of the people is essential for a rightly ordered system. Protests, petitions, and other political activities outside of the vote are essential to our democratic system. To pretend that MPs, MPPs/MLAs, local councillors, mayors, premiers, and the Prime Minister should be unreachable and all powerful except for 1 day every four years is little more than petty tyranny. There are no consequences for protesting for government favoured causes.

A state of emergency was enacted and then re-enacted each month. Citizens were offered little input or accountability from their MPPs, MPs, MLAs, or councillors, other than a rubber stamp for the legislative assembly. During a crisis, politicians should be even more accountable. We are consistently told how busy MPs, MPPs, Public Health Officials and councillors were during covid. What were they doing? They were not conducting risk assessments. Nor were they doing studies assessing the impact of covid policies. The same managerial class that accrued this power floundered when put to the test. When Canadians attempted to contact their representatives about suicide, lack of medical care, job loss, money problems, children falling behind, domestic abuse, depression, removal of grieving process and other valid concerns they found no sympathy and cold responses. “Don’t you know it’s covid out there!”. Yes, that was the very problem.

Trudeau and Dr. Tam had a particularly bad record at the start of Covid. Their use of racism to smear anyone concerned with Covid was however soon forgotten. Premiers took centre stage. Once the lockdowns began, the organs of the Regime went into full gear. ‘Cov-idiots’ massed on twitter² to shame people to join into their hysteria. ‘We Must Save Granny!’ and other emotive method were also employed to shame people that were financial ruined, mentally attacked or physically beaten. ‘Sacrifice everything to save just one life’ became the mantra of the mob. Like a ‘Holy’ Inquisitor, it was sacrifice they were willing for you to make for them. Your life. Your job. And your health. To save imaginary ‘granny’ 5 more minutes at an old age home.

So, wear an ineffective mask! These brave journalists, who failed high school math and science, authored vapid article after article condemning Canadians for not hysterically fearing covid. As mentioned previously, there was a class of people that benefited immensely from the lockdowns. Virtue points were gained for their tremendous sacrifices. Staying in their cozy houses that doubled as an office while working at a distance. No more commuting. And they may have broken a few covid rules here and there, but they had been so good this week. What’s a little cheat on covid rules when nobodies looking! “We’re all in this together!” Repeated endlessly in mind numbing propaganda articles. Or ‘doing their part’ on a zoom camera while still wearing their PJs.

Ford joined into the bullying and harassment of covid NPIs victims. “Yahoos!” That was all the people protesting his governments covid NPIs were. Did Ford at this time produce lockdown or mask risk assessments? Or perhaps any documentation to show the effectiveness of his Covid policies? No. After just over a month of lockdowns in April 2020, protesters began demonstrates at Queen’s Park, Toronto. Ford condemned these protesters as “a bunch of yahoos” saying they were being “selfish” and “irresponsible”.³ CBC reports that there were about 200 people present. We can safely assume there were more then 200 (an old media trick of underreporting protest numbers for causes that the media hates). The organizers of the protest chanted the ‘Cure is worse than the cause’ and eventually this spawned a few groups of protesters like Hugs not Masks (formal group) and Yahoo nation (informal group).

With record breaking increases in unemployment and decrease in spending--Canadians were locked inside-- businesses began to struggle. Many faced the looming threat of a no-win situation that the government put them in; open and get a fine, jail, property seizure or stay closed and go out of business and bankruptcy. Ford in Ontario ran on the election slogan “open for business” while closing more businesses than any other Premier prior. You might scoff and say, “oh but the pandemic was an exceptional situation, out of his control!” But each action taken, out of fear, destroyed people’s lives, their relationships, and their businesses. If individuals were free to make the decision to go out or stay home, each Canadian could make that decision responsibly. Time will be the judge but as already noted none of these lockdowns had any effect on covid.

Restaurants, Churches, and gyms were harassed by overzealous busybody health officials given a new lease on life with newfound importance. As C.S. Lewis warned:

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

There are hundreds if not thousands of stories of Canadians being ground down by an overbearing government that is ‘trying to protect them’. Rebel News (the major source of these incidences for this book) only has reports of people that reached out to fight their fines or to open their businesses. Undoubtably, there were many other cases that were not brought to the Public Attention. On top of the chilling effect, covid fines stopped and limited Charter protected behaviour as with arbitrary speech codes. “RCMP ticket woman moving furniture after home foreclosed in Alberta: Unauthorized gathering!”⁴ “Calgary protesters CHARGED while politicians VACATION”.⁵ “Struggling gym owner FINED nearly $2,000 for reopening to save his business”.⁶ “Is Winkler, Manitoba the town from Footloose? COVID ticket handed down for driving with friends”.⁷ “Seniors ARRESTED while filling medical prescription at Manitoba grocery store”⁸ “Independent journalist fined $880 while covering Toronto protest”⁹ “Kelowna man fined $9,000 for COVID charges says goal is to “make an example” of him”¹⁰ “Police arrest mask-exempt man trying to buy groceries at Fortinos”.¹¹ Our brave police forces letting criminals go to become covid ninnies.

Once the mask mandate caused a disturbing trend of denying privacy and enforcing non-pharmaceutical policies. In Canada, a person does not need to prove their disability (or medical exemption) to receive accommodations. Further, the mask policies through the country were enacted on the provincial level with each having some provision (within the law/bylaw) of exemption. As medical exemptions are private information no random store employee or manger has the right to ask or question a medical exemption. In practice, however, businesses like ‘Canadian’ Loblaws companies that had a shady past of bread price fixing and leaching government money, refused to abide medical exemptions. Medically exempt individuals were pushed for trying to get food, one of the few things they were still allowed to do if they had breathing problems. One must wonder what kind of satisfaction Galen Weston Jr. got out of denying and discriminating against disabled Canadians. If Canadians are eating his plastic tasting no-name brand he really does not care how fat Canadians get. So long as they get a few more pennies per loaf.

The worst offender award however must go to Chapters-Indigo, a woke overpriced bookstore that pushes neo-racism. In March 2021, London Ontario, a mother, and her disabled daughter were refused service on the grounds that the daughter could not wear a mask. Hailey, the daughter, is non-verbal and uses a wheelchair with the cognitive abilities of a 2-year-old. Her mother noted that she is unable to wear the mask as it causes her to gag and vomit and can cause her to have a seizure. Chapters-Indigo, with their degree in medical, decided to refuse this mother and her daughter service, “We've [Chapters-Indigo] made the decision to meet or exceed provincial or municipal requirements across Canada, mandating masks to be worn in-store for all employees and customers, aside from those under the age of two.” (italics added by author).¹² Oh! Brave company, attacking a disabled girl. Oh! Brave Canada, you let the woke company win. Crushing and humiliating this mother and her daughter when they sought overpriced books. How stunning! How brave!

Chapters-Indigo also denied another boy with autism and Elisabeth Walker-Young a recipient of the Order of Canada and a four-time Para athlete for swimming that was born without hands in BC in December 2020.^{13 14} Why would CEO Heather Reisman care about these people? Do they not deserve to receive service? Do they not deserve accommodated? To add insult to injury one need only look at the CBC comment section where people “all for inclusion, equal access etc., but……” went go on to mock, deride and justify the discrimination of these individuals by this Ablest company. CBC of course allowed all this Ablest scorn for persons with a disabled when there are comments that could amount to hate speech under current legislation. Dare to criticize CBC, Ford or Covid? You would be banned from their website if they did not attempt to track you down and report you to the RCMP.

Diversity, inclusion, and equity (D.I.E. or Didn’t Earn Its) has always been a way to signal their allegiance to the midwits managerial class. To act as a shield for the gnawing of one’s conscious of evil and incompetence. To decide what is and is not essential for someone else. If they can or cannot do something. Casey Renneboog responded on the article stating she was not “getting in a war with Chapters” stating she was more disappointed with “blanket policies”. Any reasonable person sympathized with this mother attempting to advocate for her child against a company actively discriminating. Instead, CBC, the Regime and the 0.1% of Canadians that enjoy their far-left radical racism scorned for her ‘taking her story to the papers’ and diminish the plight of her and her child.

Diversity is orthodoxy.

Inclusion is exclusive.

Equity is discrimination.

Oh Canada! True north strong and free indeed! The hysteria of the times filtered down the permission slip for violent and discriminatory actions. Hatred towards Individuals viewed as “holding us back” from obtaining a “covid free utopia”, spread like wildfire. The fines, besides being a tax on poor people for their God given rights (that could easily be ignore by the rich), set up perverse incentives. It now became socially acceptable to harm people because of theoretical harm from a very infectious disease. Media personalities called it self-defence. Propaganda smear merchants called people that refused to bend to their hysteria irresponsible, refuseniks, dangerous, extremists, deniers! All this begging the solution. As with all good propaganda they never said, “attack those evil deniers!” they just lead right up to the edge, whipped people up into a hysteria and handed them a gun. They gave motive and an excuse to rationalize terrible behaviour.

In Canadian Tire, a Canadian staple hardware, automotive and sporting store, there was a sad but all too familiar scene. A man from B.C. went to shop at Canadian tire when he was promptly surrounded by 5 employees in one of the aisles and tackled to the ground. Oh, this criminal what did he do? Did he steal? Did he harass or threaten or attack someone? No, he simply did not have a mask on.¹⁶ “Bravo!” We must say. Those brave employees! They selflessly beat up a customer that did not have covid to protect others from. Outstanding customer service! These vigilante assaulters were excused. These vigilante assaulters were encouraged. RCMP arrived on the scene and arrest the maskless man. Likely they released him with no charge. “They beat you up. You didn’t wear a mask. Fair’s fair, right?”

China File

One would hope that if any lessons were learned from the covid-19 panic an understandable hesitance towards the CCP grew as the lockdown continued. But at every step possible the Trudeau government, and other progressive actors, rushed in on every conversation about covid and demand we “stop being bigots and racist towards Asians or Chinese people”. The idiotic declarations that quarantines were racist, until the government implementation lockdowns. Or the baseless accusations that there was a raise in ‘anti-Asian’ crime stemming from ‘white supremacy’.

Asians were victims of seemingly random attacks, and the media decided this was proof of anti-Asian hate/racism. The connections of these attacks or perpetrators were ignored. Sadly, this narrative, especially for California progressives that hit a snag when they tried to justify a rise in anti-Asian crime from white supremacy when the perpetrators were generally black individuals. But the gymnastic display began, and progressives tied themselves into knots to blame ‘white supremacy’ for videos of black persons walking up behind and punching older Asian men and/or women without provocation.

After pushing the CCP propaganda that any criticism of the Chinese government was racist, Trudeau’s government moved onto attempted to appease during the Meng Wanzhou saga. The kidnaping, likely torture and show trial of the two Canadian Michaels. Trudeau and his government have always had a soft spot for the genocidal tyrant of China but much of the back-room dealings with the CCP went on in the background.

The Wuhan virus first woke many up to the dangers of the CCP regime. Canadian opinion of China went to an all time low with 85% of Canadians believing that the “Chinese government has not been honest or transparent about the pandemic” and a favourable rating for China at 14%.¹ As previously discussed, most Canadians hate foreign policy and generally just wish to like and be liked. For a country to drop so low that the country must have really screw up. But the deep state of Canada continued its love affair of the CCP like a battered woman they could not stay away long and continued to try to bully Canadians subservient to the CCP.

However, a crack appeared in the deep state. An access to information report filed by Rebel media on the subject of “any records corroborating a Russian report that Canada had sent a delegation to China for the 70th anniversary celebrations for the PLA Navy”.² The access to information was sent in in April 2019 and was not released (to Rebel News) until December 2020. Normally, the documents would have been blacked out (censored) to block any ‘delicate’ information. However, Rebel News received the 34-page document with dark grey highlights instead of black outs. All the sensitive information that normally would have been blacked out and removed from view were now highlighted in a light grey. This ‘accident’, due to the explosive subject matter, led many to speculate that a white hat leaked the information, based on the conflict detailed in the document.

The document detailed the involvement of the Canadian military in a propaganda military celebration for the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) just months after the two Michaels were kidnapped. It also detailed the Trudeau government’s efforts to host Chinese military for a cold weather military tactic training (in Canada). The Canadian Forces College (CAF) in Toronto cancelled this training and the email exchanges showed the fight between military and liberal government over relationship with the PLA and CCP. Besides also detailing Catherine McKenna (at the time cabinet minister) going to China for a conference while two Michaels were held hostage, twitter censorship by CCP, tracking of Uyghur Muslims by smartphones by CCP. It also showed the submissive approach of Trudeau to the CCP.

The news on this access to information broke and the much-maligned Rebel News had the biggest scoop of the decade which of course made liberal politicians fume and smear merchant media pull out their hair. The CBC stated in their slow-walked report, this scandal that the information was ‘reported in the Globe and Mail implying that it was the Global the broke the story.³ The CBC interviewed Foreign Affairs Minister Francois Philippe Champagne who pretended that this was a training plan for years ago which was untrue. It was also revealed that Champagne had around $1.2 million in debt to a Chinese bank.⁴ Catherine McKenna did not seek re-election in the 2021 federal election to take a cushy UN and international sell-out jobs.^{5 6}

Alberta Whistle Stop Rebellion.

With the start of a new wave of lockdowns many in Alberta (the most conservative province) began to resist the never-ending lockdown and public health measures. The “all in this together” Slogan had vanished quickly as big business continued to rake in profits while small businesses were discriminated against. Canadians were placed in an unwinnable situation of open as a criminal or stay closed and lose lifesavings and an otherwise successful business.

Christopher Scott made this calculus and decided to begin resisting on January 21, 2021. When he opened The Whistle Stop Café for dine in service in Mirror Alberta outside of Red Deer.¹ Living in a Rural community he managed to have 250 people each day and received several fines from Alberta Health Service (AHS). Scott redirected from concerns about covid spread to the very real likelihood of his business closing if they followed the lockdown rules. Received incredibly positive response from the local community. Rebel News reported that the Whistle Stop received a closure notice on January 26, 2021, and an order to appear in court on April 22.²

Scott refused to close his restaurant, and the AHS sought an emergency injunction from the court against the Whistle Stop Café and win on February 3^rd.³ Scott defied the court and AHS refusing to close his restaurant asking the AHS if they are willing to send him to prison over this. The Alberta government was planning on easing restrictions on February 8^th. A helicopter popped by on February 5^th to support the café⁴ and some tense confrontations between customers and the police during the next few days resulted in no closure of the Whistle Stop.⁵ Liquor licenses revoked, and other punitive measures did not bring about the closure to of his café. On February 9^th the Whistle Stop was allowed to reopen legally after a change in covid policy.⁶

A few weeks later, February 23, AHS quietly dropped the legal action against the Whistle Stop Café.⁷ “Upon the easing of restrictions and given that dine-in services are now permitted, AHS is no longer pursuing compliance of the executive officer order through the Court of Queen’s Bench.” It should also be noted that there were other businesses like Noble Fox in Bashaw (Alberta) run by Carlos Siguenza that were persecuted for reopening. Furthermore, in court AHS agreed to pay the cost of the defense’s legal fees (Chris Scott’s legal fees).

Of course, many intellectuals had a good cry that the government was being too soft (being forced to respect the rights of Canadians) citing health concerns. Shockingly, absent from these intellectuals’ criticism was any contact tracing or spread caused by Whistle Stop Café or a risk assessment. Who needs evidence when you have a degree and an opinion on who lives and who dies? Unfortunately, the hurt pride of the AHS and Alberta government led to future crackdowns. The government became far more concerned with Albertans not worshiping Science^TM. Daring anyone to exercise their Charter Rights to freedom of mobility, assembly, and association. Rights were a threat to their authority and therefore unsafe.

GraceLife Church Protest

Charter rights had never been tested as they were during Covid. Canadians quickly found that the courts slept, and judges hid under their desks. The cowardly cowards gave deference to busybody tyrants ripping up the constitutions. GraceLife church in Edmonton Alberta, about 12 minutes from downtown, strictly followed the ever-changing laws for contact tracing, distancing, occupancy limits, and masks. GraceLife church even had a small outbreak in early July and closed as for precautions.¹

On December 8^th, 2020, Alberta (Health Services) announced a reduction of capacity to church to 15%.³ The church quietly went on to hold full capacity church services and not require masks. Their quiet opposition spread on the news when the health inspectors complained that GraceLife was not following the Covid bylaws.⁴ Paster James Coates of GraceLife Church would be issued a $1,200 fine by the RCMP for violating the Public Health Act on December 17^th. Postmedia (news conglomerate) noted that GraceLife refused to comment to them. This came after the health official and RCMP forced their way into the church interrupting the church service (which is a violation of section 2 Charter Rights).

“But, but, but!” my critics cry, “they were committing a crime!” I will not take lectures (especially moral lectures) from the “defund the police” progressives. To my critics, what crime? Not following illegally enacted covid policies while worshiping? Policies that AHS did not find time to prove or verify. No hard evidence. Who was harmed? The fragile ego of bureaucrats? Some arbitrary six ways to conspiracy theory of “grandma died because of your covid sin?” The church was guilty of the challenging the authority of the government and placing God supreme above the state. “All within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state.” Mussolini.

On January 21, the Health Inspector again invaded the church during a service to count just under 300 people. Pastor Coates acknowledged their presence and asked the congregation to “show appreciation for them.” to which the congregation clapped and cheered for them. The delicate Health Inspector, not accustomed to claps, was frightened the delicate health official. Eight days later the 29^th the church was ordered closed until the congregation bent the knee and complied with the health orders.

Why were they ordered closed?
Because it was dangerous of course!
What danger?
COVID!
Oh so they had lots of deaths and or cases?
…No…

On February 7^th, the Church released a statement pointing to their devotion to God. They also stated that rights were granted by God (as per the charter). Exercising their right to conscious, assembly and association. It did help that science was also on GraceLife’s side. Professor Allen of the Simon Fraser University studied 80 covid studies and came to the following conclusion:

“An examination of over 80 Covid-19 studies reveals that many relied on assumptions that were false, and which tended to over-estimate the benefits and underestimate the costs of lockdown. As a result, most of the early cost/benefit studies arrived at conclusions that were refuted later by data, and which rendered their cost/benefit findings incorrect. Research done over the past six months has shown that lockdowns have had, at best, a marginal effect on the number of Covid-19 deaths. The ineffectiveness of lockdown stems from voluntary changes in behavior.

Lockdown jurisdictions were not able to prevent noncompliance, and non-lockdown jurisdictions benefited from voluntary changes in behavior that mimicked lockdowns. The limited effectiveness of lockdowns explains why, after one year, the unconditional cumulative deaths per million, and the pattern of daily deaths per million, is not negatively correlated with the stringency of lockdown across countries. Using a cost/benefit method proposed by Professor Bryan Caplan, and using two extreme assumptions of lockdown effectiveness, the cost/benefit ratio of lockdowns in Canada, in terms of life-years saved, is between 3.6–282. That is, it is possible that lockdown will go down as one of the greatest peacetime policy failures in Canada’s history.”²

That same day February 7^th, the RCMP interviewed and ordered Paster Coates to sign a legal undertaking to appear in court and to follow the health orders. Paster Coates refused to sign and the RCMP eventually left. The next Sunday after holding another Mass, RCMP would come with additional charges of failing to comply with undertaking and breaking the public health orders (pretending that he signed the documents when he did not.) Therefore on Feb. 14^th, when he refused to sign again, the corrupt RCMP arrested him and put him in jail. Albertans (and Canadians) expressed outrage at the arrest of a religious official for practicing his religion. Their outrage was covered by Rebel News as the Church refused to allow any other news organizations (other than Rebel News) onto their property. Protests were held and the church would continue, under associate Paster John MacArthur, at hold full capacity.

The Justice Centre of Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) became involved with James Kitchen, Paster Coates lawyer, and ask for a review of the case. Judge Peter Michalyshyn would rule that there were no legal errors. Protests would continue until March 22^nd (35 days later) Coates would be released with two charges being dropped while the last charge was kept so that it could be challenged constitutionally. The partisan self-righteous judge Jeffrey Champion put on his white lab coat and rebuked Coates “Your decision could have been of danger to the health and safety of those in the community,” (italics added by author) calling his masses “Super spreader” events without any evidence of any actual harm. Perhaps a lab coat was substituted with a crystal ball or tarot cards to foretell DOOM! You might say this is too harsh towards some random judge, the judge will get an apology the moment when he presents scientific evidence that the church spread covid at a significant rate higher than other churches following covid policies. Our rights are not fair-weather rights that disappear because one pathetic judge fears dying, so he refuses to allow others to live. (RCMP and Health inspector attempting to enter GraceLife:

Any casual legal observer would note that, “There might be Charter breaches all over the place, and I don’t think that there’s any question here that there was one, but it doesn’t matter, if it’s justified under Section 1.” This thinking is however counter to the purpose of the charter. The charter is meant to protect the people from the government not the government from the people. The Charter should be limiting the reach of government not justifying the government’s abuses. Thus, a Charter challenge was set on May 3^rd, 2021. The Alberta government would petition to delay the constitutional challenge citing not enough time (13 months since start of covid) to prepare data to defend their case. Justice delayed, is justice denied. Please take a moment to appreciate that the government of Alberta admitted here that all lockdowns, all violations of rights and abuses have been done without evidence that the government believes would survive a constitutional challenge after 13 months of a lockdown. Of course, you can imagine the courts would accept this plea and go hide like cowards under their desks.⁵

After Coates was released, he returned to Sunday mass to a roaring applause. The tyrant busybodies were not impressed and could not bear that this church had embarrassed them garnering international attention for the supposed Catholic Premier Jason Kenny. The week after Easter Sunday on April 7, 2021, at 6 am RCMP would escort Alberta Health Service (AHS) workers and private security to install two sections of metal fence around the Church. Putting on their boots AHS would state, “(GraceLife) has decided not to follow these mandatory restrictions, nor have they attempted to work with AHS to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.” Neglecting of course to show that GraceLife had an abnormally high spread of covid-19… After Coates was released from jail members of the media continued to badger AHS to do something about the church that did not bend the knee. Protests were arriving and outrage ensued as porta-potties were erected inside the second layer of fencing close to the church behind a black wrap on the fencing. Many of GraceLife Church members viewed this as a sacrilegious attack on their believes.

As far as I am aware this was the first time in Canadian history that a Church was seized by the government for practicing their faith. Premier Kenny, won a convincing victory in the last election, fractured his party with this move blindsiding the MLAs (Members of legislative assembly) from his own party. One would hope to understand that the violation of rights for a virus that kills less than 0.1% of the population is not at all justified. Sadly, there were misguided fools that clapped along this seizure of property. The protest would remain peaceful except for one incident on the 2^nd Sunday of occupation some protesters would tear down sections of the fence. Other protesters would stop these protesters and replace the fencing while the panic-stricken police called for as much backup was available. The JCCF and the church would release a statement in which they would clarify that most of their parishioners were not protesting as they were holding mass elsewhere at an undisclosed location.⁶ There is no room for any other religion in the brave new world.

On May 4^th Coates trial would begin the case would be made by his two lawyers that Coates was exercising his constitution/charter rights and the Alberta government, AHS and their enforcement were in violation of his freedom to associate and exercise religion.

This saga concluded after all charges were dismissed after the Ingram v. Alberta⁷ decision.⁸ A total of 745 charges from covid panic with 176 convictions while those that were able to hold out had their charges withdrawn due to the illegal corruption. Was there compensation? That would require the government to admit fault. An unaccountable government is the death of Canada.

Baber’s Stand

MPP Roman Baber of Ontario (York Centre for the Ontario PC party) released a letter to the media (On January 15, 2021) calling on Premier Doug Ford to end the lockdowns immediately.¹ He called for Ontario to adopt policies such as Florida and stop spreading fear and panic. ‘The medicine has become worse than the disease’. In Pillsbury Dough Ford’s Ontario you are not allowed to disagree with him, and Baber was thrown out of the progressive conservative caucus. He asked for a conversation about the effect the lockdown had on suicide and drug addiction. Dough Ford told him to shut up.

Two days after releasing the letter to the media Baber mentioned a motion in the legislator to reduce MPP salaries during the pandemic to $500 per week (the same as CERB rate). ‘If you want people to live in lockdown, why don’t you join them? Why do you deserve a fat salary while the rest of Ontario suffers?’ PC House leader Paul Calandra scorned this action and introduced a new motion to reduce only Baber’s salary. The motion caused an uproar, Baber remained silent to avoid being held in contempt and the Speaker Ted Arnott ruled the motion out of order. Baber accused the PC government of mocking the financial hardship of Ontarians after Calandra claimed that his motion was a joke.^{2 3} Conservative MP David Sweet⁴ and Former Ontario Chief Medical Officer Richard Schabas joined Baber in criticizing the Ontario lockdown citing mental health and other factors being far worse for children than covid.

Roman Baber sued the Ontario Attorney General, and the case was heard for one day and then promptly dismissed by Justice Susan Vella. This coward judge stated that Barber had no standing.⁵A judge claiming that people have no standing! Shocking! Far easier to avoid the challenging legal question then rock the hysterical covid boat! Baber and his group appealed the decision. Justice delayed, is Justice denied. The appeals court waited until May 5^th, 2022, when all the covid measures were FINALLY removed due to a certain Freedom Convoy protest (more on that later) then ruled it was moot. Aka piss off. Courts are closed.⁶

Robert Barnes (a distinguished American lawyer) says, “Not ripe in spring, no standing by summer, laches by fall, and moot by winter.” On top of finding every possible means to avoid ruling against their political policy preferences. New abuses were adopted to subvert the Charter. Charter abuses were made perfectly legal so long as the law is removed by the time the lazy court hears the case. Canadians should adopt the standard, if we think rights are violated, then rights have been violated. Stop waiting for courts to save you. Judges and courts are too busy at Cocaine and cock-tail parties with politicians. If they are going to use these Castles against us, either capture the Castles or burn (their credibility) down.
